1. This course was originally developed because of the absence of audit training designed to meet the unique needs of police departments. It is the only audit course in North America that we are aware of that is designed specifically for the police environment.

2. Who Should Attend? - This course is intended for police personnel who are involved in assessing and managing risk in a police organization

   Police organizations continually operate in an arena of risk. Some functions are extremely risky, others less so. Ensuring that all operations but particularly the ones with the highest degree of risk are managed as efficiently, effectively and economically is a major challenge for senior management and Police Boards. Creating and implementing a risk assessment framework is a key step in this process.

   This is a practical course. Participants, working in teams, will complete a risk assessment on an actual police organization and plan an audit engagement using risk-based audit planning. The participants will report out on their work and recommendations to senior management of the sponsoring police service.
